Season 6 is upon us and Killer Frost is finally going to debut a long awaited new suit. Danielle herself couldn’t be happier.
I’m not the only one pumped up to see this sexy frost queen in action. It’s striking a familiar but lovely cord with me. I feel like Season 3 vibes are coming back with the style and design. I’m being reminded of the glory that was this suit.
We have been waiting so long for Killer Frost to get her due since the show has all but forgotten about her. Which is strange, aside from Barry himself, when the show was still about him, Killer Frost was the most interesting, dynamic and complex character.
With a new show runner on board, why not finally explore Killer Frost the way she was meant to be? Remember the opening of Season 3? With the last great episode being 3×07 “Killer Frost?” Imagine if the show came back to the forefront with that dynamic? Consequences to actions, truth over deceit.
Imagine if you will, the show being about interesting characters, stories, growth and cool moments? What happened to those attributes?
As we’ve seen thus far with trailers and on set teases, Wallace is trying to bring back the vibe of Season 2, a dark villain with a light tone, back to the theme of the show. This could go completely wrong or right. It’s a wait and see game, we just don’t know what his concepts are to judge.
Killer Frost, well, they didn’t outright shit on her character until the show came back from the Season 3 winter break and made it about protecting a love interest/step sister. We all know how great that turned out. A speedster killed by a lone bullet from his sister/girlfriend. No, I’m not lying, it actually happened.
Say it with me, jumping the shark. Ugh, don’t wanna be reminded of how a speedster, the GOD OF SPEED was killed by a bullet that travels slower than him.
Killer Frost deserved better than this too. Barry, an irrational man was up his sister’s ass for the remainder of Season 3, all but ignored his friend(s), and it only took an “evil” version of Barry Allen, the best written Barry in the show, to finally accept her as she is. Barry hasn’t changed his ways and he is still willing to put everyone to the side to place his sister/wife above even his own opinion as a man and hero.
And that’s what I’m worried about going into Season 6. When does it end? When does Barry start caring about the bigger picture? When are we going to see the hero we know and love again? When will his empathy for his friends, the city and life itself overrule one person?
If Wallace plans to bring back the vibes of Season 2, the least he could do is give Iris her own story line separate from being in every scene with her brother Barry. And give Killer Frost her stories back, she is the best character on the show. They have disrespected her value long enough. We need more scenes, more arcs, more frost iconic badassery.
The can try to have a great season. I know it’s hard with all those fake racist claims from the small loud peanut gallery but this is the network’s “most popular show” and the lineup as it stands is dying. It couldn’t hurt them to actually listen to the main audience and reduce Iris to how she was in Season 2 if you’re not planning on killing her.
There is a reason why Wallace is bringing back Season 2 vibes. The show was great then. Even he can’t deny it.
